When I talk about attaining dreams and goals, when I talk about transformation and personal growth, many people tell me they’re too tired, too depressed, or too overwhelmed to go there. They feel defeated before they even start thinking about the manifestation journey and possibilities.
In previous blogs, I asked you to imagine a desired outcome and feel it. But for some, that’s a bridge too far. You can’t even contemplate a dream life, let alone feel it. And that’s okay. You just need a small step to get you there through effective manifestation techniques.
A tiny jumpstart. And by jumpstart, I mean turning on one of the gateway emotions that opens the door to being able to access elevated emotions through this powerful manifestation technique. Taking one small step rather than attempting a giant leap toward your ultimate goal.
One Small Step
For example, can you feel curious about what it is you would like to achieve? Curiosity is a gateway emotion that, once permitted, quite frequently piques a slight sense of hope or possibility. This positive mindset shift is a powerful tool for accessing elevated emotions.
Wonder is another gateway emotion and first cousin to curiosity. Can you wonder what it is you desire? Can you play, just a little, with imagining something you want to do, have, or experience through creative visualization? Maybe it’s getting healthy, losing weight, buying a new car, landing your dream job, or taking a trip to Hawai’i. Can you allow yourself to wonder what it would be like using visualization techniques?
How does that feel? Does allowing yourself to wonder and be curious, even for a few minutes, make you feel different? Breathe differently? This positive thinking approach can shift your entire energy.
Tune in. Take your time. There’s no hurry with this manifestation practice. It may take several attempts through regular practice. And that’s fine!
Once you’ve accessed this simple gateway emotion, just sit with it for a moment and allow the sensation to grow. Again, this may take you a while through daily practice. But hang in there with it. You might notice a tiny tickle of positive energy in your throat or your solar plexus. Or perhaps you just feel yourself relaxing a little.
Don’t worry if negative emotions begin to creep in. Thoughts like “Why bother? It’ll never happen.” Simply acknowledge the thoughts, whatever they are, and then return to your imagining and wonder with an open mind. Ask yourself a gateway question: “What do I have to lose by simply imagining what it is that I want to achieve?”
A common response to that question might be something like, “I’ve tried to dream before. And when my dreams fail, I feel worse.” We call those systemic brakes, those internal voices that lock you down immediately and switch off any positive thoughts of going further.
Instead of ignoring or fighting with them or letting them overwhelm you, simply nod and acknowledge them. Then set them down gently. This approach supports both your mental health and manifestation process.
Once again, take a breath and return to what it is that you want to achieve. This time, remind yourself that you are using different techniques. Focus squarely on what you want to achieve with clear intention and hold that focus.
This simple act of giving yourself time to only focus on what you want to achieve and imagine it is yet another step to being able to feel an elevated emotion attached to your specific goals. You are moving in the right direction toward positive outcomes.
A Story You Want to Believe
Allow yourself to simply look at your clear goal. Notice your emotions right now. If they still feel heavy, ask yourself if you are imaging your goal correctly through the right mental image.
Let’s take an example:
You know that you need to exercise more. Everything in your body is telling you that you need to exercise more. Your weight is up, your energy levels are down, and your joints are aching.
So, your goal is to get fit. But wait! Is sitting there criticizing your body and thinking about how bad you feel inspiring? Is this appealing to you? I bet it isn’t! So, stop right there. Your goal is not being imagined in a way that gets you on board. It’s setting you up for failure rather than positive change.
To get to elevated emotions like inspiration and excitement, you have to be able to tell yourself a story that you and your body want to believe through positive affirmations. This is important. This is your first point of buy-in and a good reason to continue.
So, instead of thinking about how many pounds you have to lose and how much time in the gym it’s going to take (ugh!), imagine yourself doing something fun, like dancing effortlessly, or swimming in a crystal blue sea, thinking “WOW! I’m so happy feeling healthy!” Use positive statements in present tense to make this mental image more powerful.
These kinds of images and thoughts get your mind and your subconscious mind on board, believing “Yes! This is something I want and can make happen!” This is how the law of attraction works in your favor.
Can you feel the excitement and pleasure building? This positive energy is what creates real change.
Now, restate your goal. It might sound something like: “I find joy in exercising. I feel such accomplishment! And my body feels so happy doing this!” This positive self-talk approach is one of the best manifestation techniques available.
Please notice, you solidly grounded yourself in an elevated emotion. And that is what will take you to your goal through the power of manifestation. It is not just the goal, but the clear vision and the emotion coupled with that goal that will get you all the way there.
Once your mind and body are in agreement, it becomes much easier to feel relieved and even excited about the choice you are making, curious about how you are going to achieve it through inspired action, and interested in watching yourself actually achieve your goal. This positive attitude makes all the difference.
So, now that you’ve unravelled the obstacles to feeling an elevated emotion around your goal, continue to tune in and really feel that emotion on a daily basis. Play with your dreaming and watch the positive emotions grow that will take you all the way to your goal. Consider keeping a manifestation journal to track your progress, creating a vision board for visual inspiration, or practicing gratitude journaling as complementary techniques.
This approach represents one of the most powerful manifestation methods because it works with your natural emotional system rather than against it. Remember, manifestation isn’t just about hard work – it’s about aligning your emotions, thoughts, and actions toward your wildest dreams.
